ATR: Iran Air to receive 1st purchased ATR plane soon

IRNA - French-Italian aircraft manufacturer, ATR, announced that the Iranian national flag-carrier airline Iran Air is scheduled to receive its first purchased ATR 72-600 soon.

In its twitter message ATR announced 'Good news for Iran Air_IRI's passengers - the airline will soon welcome its 1st ATR72-600!

Based on the contract Iran is to buy 20 ATR 72-600 valued at 400 million dollars to be used in short distance flights.

The deal was first signed in February 2016 in Tehran following the discussions held in Rome and Paris during visits of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to France and of Minister of Roads Abbas Akhoundi to Italy.

ATR is co-owned by Frances Airbus and Italys Leonardo. The ATR 72-600 aircraft is capable of carrying 74 passengers.

ATR spokesman has recently said the company will give aid to Iran Air to develop its domestic air transport, Fly Orbit News reported.

ATR also announced that some 9 ATR 72-600 aircraft will be delivered to Iran in 2017 and 11 others will be given in 2018.

In addition to ATR planes, Iran Air and Iran's Aseman Airlines have inked the contract to buy 110 Boeing and 80 Airbus.
