Iran invited to attend int値 conference on Afghanistan

IRNA Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said another round of regional consultations on Afghanistan will be held in Moscow on April 14 and Iran has been invited to attend the event.

According to the official website of Russian Federation Foreign Ministry, in her briefing to the press on Friday evening, Zakharova noted that the talks will focus on security in Afghanistan and its prospects.

的n our opinion, the main goal of the consultations is to develop a single regional approach with regard to further promotion of the national reconciliation process in that country, while maintaining Kabul's leading role and complying with the earlier reviewed and approved principles on the integration of the armed opposition into peaceful life, Zakharova noted.

She added, 的nvitations to participate in consultations were extended to Afghanistan, Central Asian countries, China, India, Iran, Pakistan and the United States.

Early media reports said that the third edition of Moscow conference on Afghanistan will be held with the presence of 12 states.

The second edition of Moscow conference was held in December 2016 with presence of six countries including Russia, Pakistan, China, India, Iran and Afghanistan.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific and Commonwealth Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour led the Iranian delegation which attended the previous Afghanistan conference in Moscow.
