Iran's ties with Russia will help resolve Syrian Crisis - Lawmaker

Sputnik News- Astana talks on Syrian reconciliation are an important step toward a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis, a senior Iranian lawmaker said Wednesday.





He added that sincethe beginning ofthe conflict inSyria Tehran had considered it tobe fueled bythe United States, their Western European allies, and several Middle Eastern countries, which had sought tochange the power inthe country.
"Three meetings inAstana have already taken place, and we believe that they are fruitful and valuable steps onthe road tothe peaceful settlement ofthe Syrian conflict," Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the chairman ofthe Committee forForeign Policy and National Security ofthe Islamic Consultative Assembly ofIran, said duringa video link-up betweenRussian and Iranian lawmakers organized bythe Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.


"We made a decision tocreate a military committee ofRussia, Iran and Iraq inBaghdad and Damascus. The operation ofthis committee is possible because Russia and Iran are carrying outpolicies aimed atfinding the political solution tothe Syrian conflict," the Iranian parliamentarian stressed.

Boroujerdi expressed Tehrans gratitude toRussia forits contribution tothe creation ofthe Russia-Turkey-Iran trilateral format.

According tothe lawmaker, Iran is concerned bythe intensification ofterrorists activities inthe Middle East.

"Our ties with Russia, out friendly and strong relations will help to resolve this issue, connected to the danger of terrorism in the region," the Iranian parliamentarian pointed out.

He expressed hope that the relations betweenRussia and Iran onthe international arena would continue, which would contribute tosolving complex global issues.

The coordination center inBaghdad was established bythe militaries fromRussia, Iran, Iraq and Syria aimed atcollecting, summarizing and analyzing data onthe hostilities inthe Middle East forfighting terrorists. Another operation center forsharing the data was created inDamascus.

The third roundof the talks onSyrian reconciliation inthe Kazakh capital ofAstana is currently underway. During the previous talks carried outin February, the involved parties agreed tocreate the Syrian ceasefire monitoring group consisting ofIran, Russia and Turkey.
