Case of Musa Sadr highly significant, serious for Iran: FM spokesman

IRNA Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Sunday that the case of Imam Musa Sadr is so important for the Iranian government that it has always been on its agenda.

Qasemi made the remarks in a meeting with the family members of Imam Musa Sadr, a distinguished Iranian Shia leader who went to Lebanon in 1959 and mysteriously disappeared during a visit to Libya in 1978.

He was born in 1928 in the Iranian holy city of Qom.

Qasemi hoped that conditions for Imam Musa Sadr freedom would be prepared through measures to be taken by Iran and Lebanon.

He added that the issue of Imam Musa Sadr is of great importance for him too so that it is a priority for him to follow up this case.

Houra Sadr, daughter of Imam Sadr, said that regional crisis and passage of time has taken pursuing the case of Imam Sadr off the governments agendas.

We, family members of Imam Musa Sadr recall the officials that we have not found any document confirming his death and we are still following up on the issue hopefully, she said.

She further noted that incumbent officials of Libya have not found any document on his death to provide us.
