Tehran, Bishkek ink MOU on reduction of rail transport tariffs

Tehran Times- Iran and Kyrgyzstan signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on reducing rail transport tariffs between the two countries, IRNA reported citing the Public Relations Department of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IRIR).


The MOU was signed on Tuesday by Ebrahim Mohammadi, the deputy director of IRIR for operation and traffic, and Arman Sultanov, the deputy president of Kyrgyz Railway(KTJ) for development affairs.

In late December 2016, Iran and Kyrgyzstan signed a document setting the roadmap for a ten-year cooperation.

The document was signed as President Rouhani along with a number of his ministers, aides, businesspersons made a trip to Bishkek.

During Rouhanis stay in Kyrgyzstan, five cooperation documents were signed between the two countries.

The documents were in the fields of telecommunication and information technology, fighting drug smuggling, cultural and art exchange program, health and medical equipment, and a memorandum of understanding in social field.

In a joint press conference with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev at the time Rouhani said a new chapter has been opened in relations.

Atambayev, for his part, said that Rouhanis trip to Bishkek was a great step in expanding relations.
