Canada to welcome 1,200 refugees fleeing Daesh

Sputnik- The Canadian government said that it would take in an estimated 1,200 refugees fleeing Daesh.


WASHINGTON (Sputnik) Canada will take inan estimated 1,200 refugees fleeing the Daesh terror group inthe Middle East, the Canadian government said ina press release.


Canada plans towelcome approximately 1200 survivors ofthis year, including vulnerable Yazidi women and children and their families, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada Minister Ahmed Hussen announced today, the release stated onTuesday.


Approximately 400 refugees are expected toarrive inCanada onWednesday, the release added. A majority ofthe 1,200 refugees will be ofthe Yazidi religious community, the release added.

Canada is working withthe United Nations Refugee Agency and the Iraqi government tolocate and rescue refugees, the release stated.

The cost forthe entire initiative is $28 million, the release noted.
