US visa ban on Iranians not signed yet

IRNA Despite news reports about US President Donald Trump's plan for banning visa for citizens of seven countries, including Iran, by Wednesday, such an order has not been reportedly signed by the US president so far.

Trump wrote on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that the next day would be a big day for the US nation, when he would put into force his decision for building a 3,200 km long wall across the joint border with Mexico

On Wednesday afternoon Trump announced that he had signed two executive orders for building the mentioned wall and creating some reforms in the country's immigration system.

To enumerate his first steps to reform the country's immigration system, the US president referred to his measures for adding 5,000 new border guards and increasing US forces in charge of controlling the borders by three-fold to detect, detain and deport undocumented immigrants whose presence he said would be a threat for the country.

However, the US president did not mention a visa ban on seven countries, namely, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Iraq and Iran, suggested by media.

Simultaneous with the issuance of the two executive orders, US media and those from other world countries warned about the consequences of signing a third order by Trump banning visa on immigrants.

No official source, including the White House, has confirmed the signing of such an order by the US president by the end of Wednesday.

Anyway, the plan for banning visa for immigrants has stirred reaction of the US human rights activists who believe that immigration is a significant part of the culture dominating the country and regard such an approach in contradiction with the US values.

The plan has also made some US lawmakers and political analysts show reaction.

It seems that these orders are desperate efforts by the unpopular US president a few days after his inauguration to demonstrate that how serious he is in fulfilling the promises he made during his presidential campaign.
