UK Foreign Secretary declares support for Iran nuclear deal

IRNA The UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, on Monday declared his country's support for the nuclear deal reached between Iran and the G5+1 (US, UK, France, Russia, China plus Germany).

Johnson made the remarks on January 16 on the occasion of implementation of the landmark nuclear deal known as the JCPOA.

The nuclear deal was signed in 2015 and came into effect in January 2016. The six world powers were committed to lifting sanctions against Iran and the country in turn agreed to limit its nuclear program in certain areas.

As she went into an EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, Johnson said it had been 'a difficult and controversial deal ... and it is a deal which we think has great merit and we want to keep going.'
