First Joint Commission meeting under JCPOA

6th joint commission on JCPOA held in Vienna

IRNA – The sixth joint commission on implementing Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was held in Vienna with representatives of Tehran and the Group 5+1 in attendance.

The meeting was held at the December 16 request of Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif late on Tuesday to review the US violations of the JCPOA and extension of Iranian Sanctions Act (ISA).

During the joint commission, the Group 5+1 was presided by the Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid while the Iranian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi.

Earlier Tuesday, Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi held talks with Schmid.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the working group for implementing removal of sanctions was held with expert delegations in attendance in Vienna on Monday.

Iranian expert delegation held separate meetings with Chinese, Russian and the US delegations on Monday.

On Monday, Head of the Headquarters for Pursuing Implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said extension of the ISA is in violation of the JCPOA.
‘We will never stand a country that breaches its commitments under various excuses,’ he said.
