IRNA � Majlis lawmakers in a statement on Monday described Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani as a politician strengthening the pillars of the Islamic Republic with his wisdom and prudence.

In a statement read out during the Majlis open session this morning, 220 present members of Majlis out of total 290 expressed condolences to the Iranian nation, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, grand clerics and officials of the country over the demise of the former Iranian president Ayatollah Rafsanjani who died on Jan 8 at the age of 82.

The parliamentarians also appreciated the efforts made by Ayatollah Rafsanjani and the responsibilitis held by him before and after the Islamic Revolution.

The lawmakers also extended sympathy with Hashemi Rafsanjani's family over his demise.
