IRNA � Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani held talks here Sunday with the visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem.

Muallem arrived in the Iranian capital on Dec 31 to negotiate with officials here.

Muallem's today talks with Larijani focused on the latest developments in Syria, ceasefire in the strategic Syrian city of Aleppo and the Russian-drafted resolution about the Syria ceasefire which was unanimously approved by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) member states on Saturday.

The visiting Syrian foreign minister negotiated with President Hassan Rouhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday.

In recent weeks, the process of political solution initiated by Tehran, Moscow and Ankara for the Syrian crisis has accelerated.

After the recent trilateral meeting held between Iranian, Russian and Turkish foreign ministers in Moscow, it was agreed that the Syrian government and the opposition groups to hold talks in the upcoming days in the Kazakh capital city of Astana.

Ceasefire in Syria started early on Friday while Russia and Turkey have guaranteed the implementation of the truce.
