Ansari: Constructive, serious dialogue is key to regional differences
IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari has said the key to differences and confrontations of various social and political wings in the region is understanding, agreement and constructive and serious dialogue.


In a meeting on Thursday, Ansari and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri discussed ways of Tehran-Beirut cooperation and relation expansion in all domains, including economic area.

Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali and Saad Hariri's advisor, Nader Hariri, were also present in the meeting, which was held at Lebanon's prime minister palace.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Ansari said he was happy to meet Harir as he started premiership tenure and as Lebanese National Unity Government took office, congratulating the Lebanese Prime Minister on his assumption of the post both personally and on behalf of Iranian officials.

He also hoped that Hariri's tenure will usher into positive changes regionally and a new phase in cooperation between Iran and Lebanon in all domains.

'It has been known in our region that Lebanon had over the past decades been affected by the surrounding environments but in the past two decades, it was Lebanon to have drastic influence on the environments around.'

The Iranian official said one of the most important influences of Lebanon in the international and regional environments in general in the past two decades have been effective and active resistance against occupation, expansion and adventurism of the Zionist regime.

He underlined that Lebanon has always served as a model of peaceful co-existence of various political and social ethnical groups, religions and factions, especially in the past few decades and after civil war, being a successful regional model in the domain.

Ansari said recent accord in Lebanon, which resulted in election of General Michel Aun as president and Saad Hariri as prime minister and formation and start of new government, marked important development, being based on understanding and dialogue among various political and social wings.

He added, 'The message of such a positive development in Lebanon, which was the call of wisdom, sense and human experience, was: The key to differences and confrontations of various political and social wings in our region is understanding, accord and constructive and serious dialogue.'

He declared, 'I hope that agreement in Lebanon will leave positive impact on the political, economic and social life of Lebanon as we are now witnessing its early traces, while regionally serve as a model of solving problems, differences and extensive ongoing clashes.'

Ansari arrived in Lebanon Thursday evening through al-Jadida-Masna border of Syria and Lebanon and met and conferred with Lebanese Prime Minister in Beirut.

In Damascus, Ansari held separate meetings with Syrian President Bashar Assad, Prime Minister Imad Mohammad Khamis, Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.

The Iranian official's visit to Syria and Lebanon follows the troika meeting of Iranian, Russian and Turkish foreign ministers in Moscow. It is of significance for Syrian case and has been the focus of the political and media circles.

Upon turning Deputy Foreign Minister for the Middle East and African Affaris late May, Jaberi Ansari travelled to Lebanon and met with senior Lebanese officials, especially Secretary General of Hizbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.

He is to meet certain other Lebanese senior officials on Friday.
