Senior Iraqi politician off to Tehran

IRNA - Head of the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) Ammar Al-Hakim, heading a delegation, departed to Tehran on Saturday, an Iraqi source said.

Talking to IRNA, an Iraqi source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said a number of INA members are accompanying Al-Hakim during his Iran's visit.

While in Iran, the senior Iraqi politician official is scheduled to meet with several Iranian top officials and discuss the recent regional and international developments as well as the ways to reinforce mutual ties with them.

The INA, which comprises Shia political parties, has the majority of seats in the parliament.

The alliance is formed by four political parties, namely the State of Law Coalition, headed by Nouri al-Maliki, the ISCI, the National Reform Trend Party, headed by al-Jaafari, and the Sadrist Movement, with prominent Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as its leader.
