US has breached JCPOA commitments: Cleric

IRNA The United States has breached the provisions enshrined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, Tehran's Friday Prayers Leader Kazem Seddiqi said on Friday.


He made the remarks in the second semon of Friday Prayers.

He criticized the United States for initiating bloodshed and humanitarian disaster in Iraq in 2003 at the expense of the American tax payers.

Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi said that the US spent several trillion dollars for initiating war in Iraq and got nothing except for bloodshed and deaths of several hundred thousand civilians in Iraq.

He said that the international community is critical of the US performance in the wake of September 11, 2001 terror attack in the United States.

The election of Donald Trump as US president was the wrath of God, the cleric added.

The Friday prayers leader said that Washington has reneged on the nuclear deal struck in July 2015 and a bill presented by the the US congress to extend Iran's D'Amato sanctions for another decade is another step in a series of breaches the United States has done to the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action.

Iran will adopt reciprocal measures if Washington continues breach of the nuclear deal, Seddiqi added.

The cleric thanked Iraqi nation and government for their hospitality to Iranian pilgrims at Arbaeen procession.

The official condemned crack down on Bahrain people by the country's rulers and criticized the international bodies for their silence to violation of human rights in Yemen and Nigeria.
