Spokesman: SArabia uses sacrilgious act for political ends

IRNA Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Wednesday described the news that the Yemeni's had launched missile attack on Mecca as 'a lie' on part of Saudis and said by releasing false reports and irrelevant subjects, they use desecration of religious sanctities for their own political ends.

Qassemi made the remarks on the sidelines of the 22nd Press Exhibition in IRNA pavilion on Tuesday.

Regarding emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia on Yemen, Qasemi said, 'We have not made any specific decision; however, we suppose that unfortunately, Saudi Arabia releases false reports and irrelevant subjects, attempting to exploit religious sanctities and issues in its own favor and politically abuse them.'

He added that as western sources and other countries have announced, the news is not correct originally and the Saudis have unjustifiabley raised the issue in connection with Mecca, trying to use it as a lever and also the sentiments inIslamic communities. 'This is highly dangerous and if continued, would grip themselves in other issues.'

The diplomatic organ spokesman underlined, 'This is a big mistake and it is nothing that could be believed in in today's world. Regarding beliefs of Muslims from various sections in the world of Islam, all can understand that no Muslim with any tendency would fire at holy Medina and Mecca; that's a big historical lie, politically abused by Saudi Arabia unjustifiably.'

Concerning international atmosphere following implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Qasemi said international and general atmosphere after the JCPOA, is more suitable for Iran after the JCPOA.
The 22nd Press Exhibition is underway in Tehran from November 4-11.
