Spokesman stresses importance of tripartite meeting in Moscow

Moscow, Oct 27, IRNA Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Thursday that the tripartite meeting of Iran, Russia and Syria foreign ministers to be held in Moscow on Friday is the Axis of Resistance's initiative against the anti-Syrian terrorism.


Talking to IRNA in a telephone conversation, Qasemi added the anti-terrorism Axis of Resistance, consisting of Iran, Russia and Syria, has made remarkable achievements in tackling terrorists.

Yesterday, Qasemi said that foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Syria are to hold tripartite meeting in Moscow on Friday to discuss Syrian developments.

He added the achievements of the anti-terrorism Axis of Resistance would be reviewed in the tripartite meeting in Moscow.

Qasemi noted the failure of Arabic-Western scenario's for overthrowing the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, weakening of terrorists, Daesh in particular, and the al-Nusra Front within the past year and limiting the activity centers of the terrorist groups are considered as the main achievements of Iran-Russia-Syria convergence in the anti-terrorism Axis of Resistance in the region.

Pointing to the massacre of tens of thousands of civilians in Syria and Iraq due to West's instrumental use of terrorism, he added the continued political approaches to resolve crisis in Syria, tackling terrorism until their complete destruction as well as fostering convergence are among other issues that would be discussed during the meting in Moscow.

Yesterday Qasemi said Zarif is to depart for Moscow on Friday morning at the head of a delegation and will return to Tehran the same day.

The three foreign ministers are to discuss in Moscow the latest developments in Syria and the region, while Iranian and Russian sides are to consider and discuss bilateral ties as well.
