Science VP in China for promotion of tech. coop.

TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (MNA) Irans VP for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari heading a high-ranking delegation has traveled to China at the invitation of President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chunli Bai.Parviz Karami, Advisor to Sorena Sattari, said following the visit of Chinese President to Iran in January, two MoUs on scientific and technological cooperation were signed between Irans Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Chinas Ministry of Education and Academy of Sciences.

Under the agreement signed between Sattari and Bai in the presence of the two countries presidents, a joint Silk Road Scientific Fund was agreed to be established with an aim to enhance cooperation through conducting joint research projects, holding workshops and the academic exchange programs.

According to Karami, the Fund has selected 10 projects for Iran-China joint investment that will be followed up by the Iranian delegation during the visit to Beijing.

Cooperation between Chinese Academy of Sciences and Irans Vice Presidency for Science and Technology is related to nanotechnology, cognitive science and technology, renewable energy and medical equipment.

Karami maintained that the CAS is the largest academy of sciences in the world with over 120 national institutes and universities, as well as over 700 spin-off knowledge-based companies, and thus can bring in valuable experiences for joint cooperation.

The Iranian delegation in China are scheduled to visit the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), Sugon high-techenterprise, as well as a number of major technological centers and exhibits.

Sattari is also slated to hold talks with Chinas Minister of Science and Technology, Wan Gang.
