Ex-Iraqi PM lauds Irans efforts to unite Muslims

BAGHDAD (Tasnim) - Former prime minister of Iraq Nouri al-Maliki praised Iran for its efforts to bring Muslims together.

In an address to the 9th session of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council in Baghdad on Saturday, Maliki, who was prime minister of Iraq from 2006 to 2014, hailed Irans efforts to gather Muslims together and strengthen Islamic unity.

50 clerics, scholars and intellectuals from 22 Muslim nations are attending the two-day conference in Baghdad.

It commenced this morning with a speech by Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati.
