EC Secretary calls S. Arabia as Iran's enemy

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee described Riyadh as Tehran's enemy, and said the Americans who are supporting the Wahhabi Saudis will one day regret their deeds.

"Today, Saudi Arabia is our enemy and Turkey is our rival," Rezayee, also former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said, addressing a congress in the Western province of Kohgilouye and Boyer Ahmad on Sunday.

Referring to the US support for Saudi Arabia, he said, "One day, they will see that Wahhabism will disgrace them in a way worse than the ISIL."

Expressing regret that the US has learned no lesson from the crimes committed by Saddam and the ISIL against the people, Rezayee said, "Iran is asking them why they enter the lands of independent countries like Syria and Yemen."

He called on the regional countries to protect their independence and avoid becoming a puppet of the US and Israel, and asked, "Why should a country like Saudi Arabia not experience democracy and should its people not decide their own fate?"

In relevant remarks last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif strongly criticized the Saudi regime for implementing the US orders in the Middle-East and also trying hard not to lose Washington's support.

"Certain regional countries, specially Saudi Arabia, are desperate not to lose the US support," Zarif said in a meeting with Iranian expatriates residing in the US.

The Iranian foreign minister said Saudi Arabia is carrying out endless lobbies with Americans because the Saudi rulers know that their legitimacy and very existence is tied to the US support for them.

Also in September, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari expressed regret over the grave mistakes made by Saudi Arabia in the region, warning of increased tensions in light of Riyadh's policies.

"Saudi Arabia has moved towards clashes in the region and normalization of ties with the Zionist regime through its wrong policies," Jaberi Ansari said in an interview with the state-run TV.

He said that Riyadh is attempting to play a blame-game by exporting its problems to foreign actors, and stressed, "Saudi Arabia's policies will sooner or later fail."
