Iran defuses several terrorist plots

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of Iran's Law Enforcement Police Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said his forces have foiled plans by the Takfiri terrorists and anti-revolutionaries to stir insecurity in the Eastern parts of the country.

"Police has so far foiled attempts by Takfiri terrorists and counterrevolutionary groups to infiltrate into the country by trespassing the Eastern borders," Ashtari said on Saturday.

He underlined that there had been some terrorist moves along the country's borders, which had been defused by the country's border guards vigilantly.

The police chief declined to reveal any further detail.

On Thursday, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli blasted Saudi Arabia for sponsoring terrorists in the Eastern parts of Iran.

"The arrogant powers are looking for unpleasant incidents in Iran and they spend a lot of money in this regard; Saudi Arabia is providing financial, logistic and intelligence support for terrorists in Eastern Iran," Rahmani Fazli said.

Over the past several months, the Iranian security forces have engaged in clashes with terrorist groups and while foiling their terrorist plots along the borders and inside the country killed several of them and arrested many others, confiscating large amounts of explosives and bomb-making materials.

In June, Irans Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said members of a terrorist group captured in the city of Khash in the countrys Sistan and Balouchestan Province had acknowledged to receiving the US and Saudi support.

Commander of IRGC Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said at the time that Washington and Riyadh were attempting to organize and reinforce terrorist groups and counter-revolutionary elements in Iran.

In early September, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi blasted Saudi Arabia for spreading the Wahhabism ideology in a bid to increase the terrorist and extremist activities in the Middle East.

"The world has come to learn that Saudi Arabia and Wahhabism, the radical ideology freely preached in the Arab country, are to blame for the violent acts of extremism in the Middle East region and elsewhere," Qassemi said.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman reiterated that Saudi Arabias attempts to cover up its role in the spread of terrorism and extremism in the region have failed.

"Despite Saudi Arabias constant attempts to hide such realities as its involvement in the worlds most horrific terrorist operation and child-killing in Yemen by using petrodollars, today, the world has well learned that the source of these scourges is the Saudi regime and the fake ideology of Wahhabism, which is the basis for the countrys political livelihood, Qassemi added.
