EC Secretary: S. Arabia using Persian Gulf states as shield

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezayee warned the Persian Gulf littoral states to keep vigilant against Riyadh's plots as it is using them as a shield to protect its own security.

"The House of Saud is constructing a railway for express trains from Dammam to the Red Sea and it is building pipelines from the Persian Gulf region to the Red Sea whose aim is to sustain the least damage at times of insecurity and use the Persian Gulf littoral states as a shield to sustain the most harms," Rezayee told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.

Noting that the House of Saud is not honest even with its friends, he said, "But it is obvious to us that by implementing this policy, the Saudi regime is using countries in the Persian Gulf region as a shield."

"We advise the Persian Gulf states not to weaken their friendship with Iran since a plot has been hatched that they are not aware of," Rezayee said.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian Supreme Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati blasted Saudi Arabia for its crimes against the regional Muslims, and said Riyadh is working only in the interests of the US and Israel.

"The Al-Saud is serving the enemies of Islam, that is the US and the Zionist regime," Velayati said.

Stressing that the Saudi regime is acting as the US stick to pressure the West Asian states, he said, "The Saudis are directly and indirectly collaborating with those who have shed the blood of innocent and Muslim people in the region in the past few years."

Velayati said that Riyadh has always supported extremism and Wahhabism which are no way related to Islam, and added the Saudi regime's life has come to an end.
