Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA - Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader, Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi, said on Friday that the Iranian Armed Forces contribute to the regional peace and stability and will make regretful any country which may venture into aggression on Iran.

He made the remarks in his second sermon.

He said that the brave Iranian nation have proved that they are not aggressor.

He recalled the eight-year imposed war on Iran, saying that in 1980-1988, both the Eastern and the Western superpowers stood by the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

'In the course of the eight-year imposed war on Iran, our religious belief gave us enough courage to fight with the Iraqi Army backed by the former Soviet Union, the US, Britain, France, Germany and all the bullying powers,' he said.

Congratulating the opening of the schools and universities, he said the academic venues should be immune from political games.

School goers and the academics should identify the enemies and all should bear in mind that the US is our number one enemy, he said.

'The Supreme Jurisprudent (Velayat-e Faqih) survived us from sufferings of colonialism and brought us many blessings,' he said.

The religious leader deplored the US air raids on the Syrian government Army position which led to martyrdom of some 90 Syrian troops and injured scores of others.

He said that Washington attempted to undermine the Syrian national sovereignty by bombarding the government position.

He recalled similar bombardment of Iraqi government forces and the support made by Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia for bombardment of Ghonaytare indicated that the global hegemony network is against independence of the countries and their awakening.

'They have created terrorists and supported them and we should be vigilant that their slogan of fight with terrorism is a sheer lie,' Seddiqi said.
