Supreme Leader demands UN inquiry into deaths of Iranian pilgrims, blood money

Tehran, Sept 7, IRNA Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday demanded an international and Islamic inquiry into deaths of Iranian pilgrims and blood money the Saudis must pay to the families who lost their loved ones.

The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the families of martyrs of Mina tragedy and Masjid al-Haram, Saudi Arabia.

'Saudi wicked evil progeny does not deserve to run the holy shrines,' the Supreme Leader said when His Eminency took part in the meeting of the bereaved families.

Negligence and incapability of the Saudis created such a tragedy proving their illegibility to run the holy shrines, the Supreme Leader said.

'If they tell the truth and have no fault in creating the tragedy, they should allow an international and Islamic inquiry into the stages which led to the tragedy,' Ayatollah Khamenei said.
