Austrian Airlines to launch direct flights to Isfahan from today

Starting from Sunday, September 4, 2016, Austrias national carrier will take off three times each week to the Iranian commercial center of Isfahan.

The airline will operate an Airbus A320 aircraft to offer flight service to the Iranian city at a distance of 4,200 kilometers from Vienna Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Austrian Airlines has expanded its existing portfolio of up to fourteen weekly flights to Tehran by adding Isfahan, thus increasing its offering to Iran to up to 17 flights each week.

Austrian Airlines will fly to Isfahan the entire year. The duration of the journey from Vienna to Isfahan is about 4 hours 40 minutes.

In September 2015, Iranian president met his Austrian counterpart on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where they exchanged views on bilateral relations, with President Rouhani emphasizing the need for removal of anti-Iran sanctions imposed by the European Union.

Earlier, Air France and British Airways resumed flying to Iran after a several years break.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will also resume services to Tehran from October 30, the airline said earlier.
