Iran to protest to IAEA over leaked document

TEHRAN, Jul. 24 (MNA) Behrouz Kamalvandi said Sun. Irans representative to the IAEA will submit a note of protest to the nuclear Agency over the leaked confidential information about Irans long-term nuclear plans.

Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Behrouz Kamalvandi, made the remarks in reaction to the leaked confidential document about some aspects of Irans long-term nuclear plans as published in the Associated Press, adding some parts that were published had been confidential and were supposed to remain so. We assume that the document has been leaked by the IAEA.

On Saturday, the AEOI head Ali Akbar Salehi said the IAEA has been asked to keep Irans nuclear plans confidential and that there was no reason for everyone to be made privy to it; of course, we have agreed to confidentially inform the joint commission related to the JCPOA about the plan, he added.

We do not intend to announce the plan ourselves, Salehi said, if the other side does it, it will be a breach of promise, but then again, our people will be informed about our correct and appropriate predictions in regard to the development of our nuclear industry.

This is while an official on the Board of Directors of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said Saturday that serious security measures were needed to be taken in order to prevent the IAEA and the western sides from publishing Irans confidential documents.

Elsewhere, Behrouz Kamalvandi, talked about Irans negotiations with the Russian side for the selling of 40 tons of heavy water, saying I am currently in talks with my Russian counterpart Mr. Spassky and my fellow colleagues in Vienna are also in talks about this matter.

He went on to add that the price has not been finalized yet and the sides are negotiating to reach an acceptable price.
