TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans Islamic Revolution Guards Corps forces have managed to completely destroy two terrorist cells and blow heavy deals to three other militant groups following clashes near northwestern and western borders, an IRGC commander announced.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday evening, Commander of Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base of the IRGC Ground Force Majid Arjomandfar pointed to his forces recent achievements in the fight against terrorists, saying that five terror groups in the countrys northwestern and western borders have been smashed.

We have completely destroyed two of the terror cells one in West Azerbaijan (Province) and the other in Kurdistan Province, he noted.

He further highlighted the links between the terror groups and some foreign spy agencies, saying that the intelligence services of Saudi Arabia and the US have hatched plots to create insecurity in Iran by focusing on the groups.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the commander said in the recent clashes between the IRGC forces and the militant groups, 23 terrorists have been killed.

Last month, Iranian security forces managed to kill a number of terrorists in armed clashes in Sarvabad and Mahabad regions in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan near the border with Iraq.

According to Commander of the IRGC Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, full security prevails along Irans borders thanks to the IRGCs presence and successful operations in recent years.

The ongoing security conditions at Irans borderlines are incomparable with the past, when terrorist and anti-Revolution elements were being fought off inside the countrys territories, the commander said at the time.
