Truck carrying ammunitions catches fire

Tehran, July 22, IRNA- A truck carrying ammunitions from Tabriz to Tehran caught fire on Thursday after it got a flat tyre, according to the police.

The iveco truck, possessed by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, caught fire at 16:30 local time while traveling on the freeway linking Qazvin to Zanjan, the police news center said.

The fire began after the front tyre of the truck blasted while running, it said.

The fire caused by the blasted tyre soon spread to the ammunition cargo causing an explosion which ultimately resulted in a blockade of the free-way.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

The traffic on the freeway has returned to normal.
