Ankara may review its relations with Washington if the United States does not extradite Turkish opposition cleric Fethullah Gulen, who has been reportedly linked to a coup attempt, to Turkey, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Late onFriday, Turkish authorities said that an attempted coup took place inthe country.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other officials have blamed Gulen staying inself-imposed exile inthe United States and his supporters forthe coup attempt and called onhis US counterpart Barack Obama toextradite the cleric, while speaking toa crowd ofhis supporters.

"I am telling the US leadership there is a global threat here, an attempt tooust the lawful government, directions todestroy the will ofthe people inthe country, there is no religion or cultural values here. What other proof do they need? If, despitethis, they will continue demanding evidence, then I apologise butwe shall be very disappointed and the need toreconsider our relations may enter our agenda," Yildirim told a government session.

Earlier inthe day, US State Secretary John Kerry said that the United States had not received any formal request toextradite Gulen.
