Kardor: Technology transfer is must of new oil deals

TEHRAN (FNA)- Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Ali Kardor said on Tuesday that transfer of technology is the main principle of Iranian oil industry in following the new oil contract model.

Speaking in ceremony, where the NIOC and Russian Zarubej Neft signed a feasibility study deal, Kardor said the principle emphasized in that model of contract concerned the need for transfer of technology.

He said, "The companies willing for cooperation with the NIOC in the upstream sector are expected to take the important point into consideration."

He added that there are three layers for transfer of technology: Firstly, the exploration, production and storage tank engineering activities; secondly, transfer of technology to the Iranian oil service companies; and thirdly, transfer of technology for manufacturing equipment in partnership with Iranian manufacturers.

Kardor said selection of Iranian partner by foreign companies will be in line with the goal to prepare the ground for transfer of technology.

He said after the JCPOA MANY Russian companies have voiced willingness for cooperation with Iranian oil industry. "I hope this MoU, which marks the first segment of cooperation between the Russian Zarubej Neft and the NIOC, will serve as a prelude to more engagement between the two companies.
