Tehran: Merkels comments on Iran missile program 'unconstructive'

Tehran, July 9, IRNA Irans Foreign Ministry on Saturday rejected latest comments made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Irans missile program describing them as 'unconstructive'.

Iran has repeatedly announced that its missile program is completely defensive and by no means designed for carrying nuclear warheads, therefore it is not violating the UN Security Councils Resolution 2231 and is, by no means, related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said reacting to Merkels comments.

In an address to Germanys Bundestag (Parliament) on July 7, Merkel claimed that Iran has violated the United Nations Security Councils anti-missile development regulations.

Tehran will firmly continue its missile program based on a defensive doctrine and according to its national security considerations, foreign ministry spokesman reiterated, stressing that those comments will have no impact on Irans legitimate missile program.
