Tehran, July 9, IRNA � Iran�s Foreign Ministry on Saturday rejected latest comments made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Iran�s missile program describing them as 'unconstructive'.


�Iran has repeatedly announced that its missile program is completely defensive and by no means designed for carrying nuclear warheads, therefore it is not violating the UN Security Council�s Resolution 2231 and is, by no means, related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)� Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said reacting to Merkel�s comments.

In an address to Germany�s Bundestag (Parliament) on July 7, Merkel claimed that Iran has violated the United Nations Security Council�s anti-missile development regulations.

�Tehran will firmly continue its missile program based on a defensive doctrine and according to its national security considerations,� foreign ministry spokesman reiterated, stressing that those comments �will have no impact on Iran�s legitimate missile program.�
