Widespread protests to Bahraini clerics citizenship revocation
June 21, The Iran Project -Following the Al Khalifah regime decision to revoke the citizenship of prominent Shia cleric, Sheikh Isa Qassim, several Muslim countries, Iran in particular, and resistance groups severely lambasted the move on Tuesday.

Commander of Irans Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warned that Al Khalifah regime move against Qassim could "set the region on fire".

IRGC commander reiterated that the sanctuary of the most senior Bahraini Shia cleric is considered as a redline whose violation will set fire to Bahrain and the entire region.

Soleimani believes that that overstepping this redline would leave the people [of Bahrain] with no other choice but armed resistance.

Senior Iranian commander stressed that Al Khalifah will pay the price for this and it will result in nothing other than the collapse of this bloodthirsty regime.

In a controversial move, Al Khalifah on Monday revoked the citizenship of Sheikh Qassim, claiming that he has been involved in spreading extremism.

After the decision was announced, several hundred Qassim supporters gathered outside his home in the mostly Shia village of Diraz west of the Bahraini capital, carrying posters and chanting religious slogans.

The decision comes less than a week after the Bahraini Justice Ministry suspended all activities of al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the main opposition group in the country.

Wefaqs Secretary General Sheikh Ali Salman has been in prison since December 2014.

Meanwhile, Irans Foreign Ministry in a statement condemned the Al Khalifah regimes intensification of its security approach toward religious and national leaders, opposition to religious beliefs and principles, and misappropriation of religious assets and funds of the Bahraini people.

Iranian Foreign ministry also urged the Al Khalifah regime to halt the ongoing crisis in the country by stopping its illegal behavior, avoiding the destruction of all the bridges for communication with the people and moderate leaders of the country, accepting the realities of the country, and holding serious national dialog.

Muqtada al-Sadr, an influential Iraqi Shia cleric, has called on the Iraqi people to hold rallies in support of Bahrains prominent Shia cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim.

The Iraqi Shia cleric also lambasted the raid on the Bahraini Shia clerics house, saying the Al Khalifah regime is seeking to foster fear and ferment sedition by attacking and disrespecting Shias and their clerics in Bahrain.
