TEHRAN (Tasnim) � The Western civilization that has plundered oppressed nations is now on the verge of collapse, lieutenant commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said, noting that an Islamic civilization is rising instead with the message of peace and prosperity for the world.

Addressing a cultural ceremony in Tehran on Monday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami hammered the Western civilization for relying on liberalism to plunder oppressed nations, wage devastating wars, develop stockpiles of nuclear weapons, displace innocent people, plan coups, promote dictatorship, and ruin freedom of people.

While that Western civilization is on the wane, an Islamic civilization is rising with the message of freedom, justice, human dignity, restoration of values, true independence, respect for human beings, peace, friendship, calm, security and development for the globe, he added.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also on different occasions underlined the weaknesses of the Western civilization and the growing role of Islam in the world.

�Today, the Western civilization is revealing its contradictions. It is now Islam�s turn and it is up to Muslims to mobilize their efforts and establish a new Islamic civilization,� the Leader said in an address in December on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

�The world of Islam, like the Prophet, must unleash a new spirit and a fresh environment and set up a new Islamic civilization,� Ayatollah Khamenei added.
