NIGC, Gazprom discuss expansion of ties

TEHRAN, May 30 (Shana) -- National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and Russian Gazprom Company representatives held a meeting on Monday and discussed ways of expansion of ties.

Iranian taskforce for repair and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution network held a meeting on Monday with visiting delegation from Russian Gazprom Company to discuss boost of cooperation.

Saeed Pakseresht director of research and technology at National Iranian Gas Company in an interview with Shana, referred to the previous agreements with Gazprom and said in a meeting with Gazprom vice president the previous year, Tehran and Moscow established six task forces to explore ways of expansion of cooperation.

11 topics including Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), repair and maintenance system of Gas Turbo Compressors, Turbine Testing Lab, leak detection of gas transformation pipelines new technologies were discussed in the meeting between Iranian and Russian sides, the official said.

He noted that CNG industry of Iran is much progressed and Gazprom has expressed desire to use Iran experience in this field.

Some of Iranian companies active in the field of CNG were introduced to the Gazprom officials and it has been planned that the Russian side pay visit to Iranian companies and the Iranian companies representatives go to Russia for more discussion, Pakseresht noted.

He said Russia is an advanced country in field of construction of Turbo compressors, Turbines, LNG as well as leak detection of gas transmission pipelines, adding that Iranian and Russian officials have stressed continuation of talks for closer cooperation in the above mentioned fields.

Iranian and Russian sides also discussed exchange of trainees for learning Pipeline Integrity Management Software (PIMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS), Pakseresht added.

He said that the next meeting of the Iranian and Russian taskforce is expected to be held in Russia.
