SDF librates 2 villages during anti-Daesh operations in Raqqah



Fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) haveliberatedtwo villages from Daesh terrorists during their operations in the northern province ofRaqqah.

The villages of Namrodia and Matmashraja near Ayn Issa, about 55 kilometers (34 miles)north of Raqqah, were captured by the coalition of a Kurdish and Arab forces following heavy clashes with the terrorists, the officialSANA news agency reported on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the SDF announced that they had launched a major offensive against Daesh in the province, adding that the operations are being supported by US warplanes.



According to reports, some SDF 30,000 troops have been deployed to the region.

SDF commanderRojda Felatsaidthat the goal of the operations was to "liberate northern Raqqah" and those living under Takfiri "oppression".

"The campaign is aimed at repelling terrorist attacks on Shaddadi, Tal Abyad and Kobani, ensuring the security of our people,"Felatadded.

Elsewhere, the Syrian army conducted operations against the Takfiri terroristsliberatingseveral villages, destroying equipment, and killing large numbersof the militants, in the provinces of Homs, Dayr al-Zawr,Damascus and Quneitra.

Syria has been gripped by a foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. According to a February report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of some 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the countrys pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
