'US Plan B in Syria legitimizes ISIL'

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US Plan B in Syria could broaden the conflict in the middle Eastern country, as some suggesting that the plan is the division of Syria and division of Iraq into ethnic lines that is going to create even further problems in the long run, a leading expert in Middle East affairs said.

"When you look atthe interests ofSaudi Arabia, who is pouring billions intothis conflict, andTurkey, you see that really they dont want tohave tranquility and peace inthat region," Islamic Human Rights Commission founder Massoud Shadjareh said, Sputnik reported.

"Theyd had a commitment fromthe beginning forregime change."

The United States and its allies maintain that their goal inSyria is tocombat violent religious extremist groups likeISIL terrorist group. But Western powers resist the obvious solution tothat problem byinsisting first onthe removal Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"The Syrian government has tobe a part ofthe solution. Without that sort ofengagement, theres not going tobe a solution and everybody knows that."

Still, the US has struggled todevelop an effective strategy inthe region, it is now considering a mysterious Plan B that could broaden the conflict.

"Others are suggesting that Plan B is the division ofSyria and division ofIraq intoethnic lines. That, indeed, is going tocreate even further problems fora very long time," he says.

"It would create enclaves which would be opposed toone another and that will be continuously fighting one another."

A partition ofthis nature would turn ISIL intoa de facto government.

"It would legitimize the creation ofaISIL-type ofenclave inboth countries, and its something that has now been promoted bythe Saudis and its allies," Shadjareh says. "This is really the problem ofthe United Statesinvolvement inthe Middle East. Wherever theyactually got involved, they have actually created bigger disasters thanthey were before.

"The reality is that this sort ofgunboat diplomacy, trying tobring democracy with bombs and bullets, and supporting these insurgent groups, its really never going towork.

"Any fool could create this mess, butto clear it upis becoming a huge issue."
