Iran criticizes Amano for demanding detailed report from Iran

Vienna, March 9, IRNA Iran's ambassador to IAEA on Wednesday criticized IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano for demanding detailed report from Iran about implementation of JCPOA. He said that the demand contradicts the context of the UN Security Council Resolution 2331.

Reza Najafi made the comments in an official letter addressed to the UN nuclear watchdog's board of governors.
He praised the agency secretariat and Iranian technicians' restless efforts which led to implementing the JCPOA even earlier than the schedule.

'Accordingly, the entire former resolutions of the UN Security Council and 12 resolutions of the IAEA board of governors on Iran nuclear program were annulled on January 16, 2016 and all restrictions on agency's technical cooperation with Iran were lifted,' he said.

Najafi said that Iran has remained committed to all its parts of the duties ever since the implementation of the JCPOA and the IAEA has verified.
'The 5+1 Group's full implementation of their commitments, is a main basis for sustainability of the JCPOA as well,' he added.
The Iranian envoy said that the entire UNSC, unilateral and multilateral nuclear sanctions have been terminated and this should naturally lead to greater comprehensive cooperation with Iran.

Najafi referred to the visits of Iran of several delegations from around the globe, including some heads of states and signing of numerous contracts, especially in economic field ever since the implementation of the JCPOA.

'Therefore, the agency is expected to promote the ongoing positive trend and heed the tangible results of implementing the JCPOA,' he added.
Meanwhile, Najafi requested the IAEA board of governors to listen to an unrelated communiqu on Israeli broad violations of the international law.

He said that Tel Aviv has never joined any treaty on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, including the nuclear weapons, never permitted the agency's inspectors to visit its clandestine nuclear facilities, and is stockpiling hundreds of nuclear warheads.

'So let Israel keep shedding crocodile tears on Iran's peaceful nuclear program, but be sure that such hue and cry on their part cannot conceal their real threat to the regional and international peace and security,' Najafi said.
