Zarif: Elections turnout helps implementation of JCPOA

Tehran, March 2, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that the meaningful participation of the Iranian people in last week's elections would help the officials to firmly go on with the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA).

He also touched on the presidential elections held two years ago, saying, 'If there was not the 73 percent participation of people in the in 2013 elections, no one would provide us with the mandate to mightily negotiate (over the nuclear program).'

People's large turnout in the elections indicated their firm resolve not to allow anyone to prevent them from going to ballot boxes, Zarif said.

He noted that Iran made a historical decision in nuclear talks that will benefit the Iranian nation over the course of time.
