Chief commander of Iran�s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari says Saudi Arabia dares not carry out a ground attack on�Syria because it is incapable of doing that.�

�The Saudis dare not carry out a ground attack against Syria and will never do because they are not at the level of a ground entry into the Syrian territory and do not have the capability to act at this level,� he said in Tehran Wednesday.

Pressed by the Tasnim news agency reporter on what Iran�s reaction would be to a possible Saudi ground incursion, Jafari said, �As I said, Saudi Arabia is not capable of a ground attack.�

�As the Islamic Republic of Iran, we are giving advisory support to the Syrian people and government against terrorists and this advisory support will continue�because we see ourselves alongside the Syria government and people.�

Jafari said, �The Saudis may want to do something through the air with American and other equipment�in order to strengthen terrorists against the Syrian people and army but these measures will have no results.�

�That is because the Syrian army and people are determined to protect their territory,� the commander added.

Jafari said, �Of course, we hope the Saudis and those who are sponsoring terrorists will not continue their support.�

Other Iranian officials have dismissed Saudi talks of deploying ground troops to Syria as a "bluff."

�It is obvious that these remarks are more of a propaganda slogan. The means and capabilities of countries are completely clear and with these propagandist bluffs, none of their problems will get resolved,� Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad�Zarif said in Brussels on Monday.

After announcing plans for a possible ground deployment, Saudi and Turkish officials have backpedaled on some of their rhetoric, saying�they would wait for a go-ahead�from the US.

On Tuesday,�Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Turkey would�continue to take�preventative measures to avoid becoming involved in the Syria war.

Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz earlier said Ankara had no intention of intervening in Syria while another�official said Turkey�would not launch an offensive in Syria on its own.

"Turkey is not going to have a unilateral ground operation. We are asking coalition partners that there should be a ground operation. We are discussing this with allies," the official said in Istanbul.

The official, however, said four Saudi jets will be deployed to Turkey's Incirlik air base by end of February.
