Italy economic team due in Iran Monday

TEHRAN (ISNA)- A senior Italian economic delegation would visit Iran on Monday to discuss trade and economic ties between the two countries in the post-JCPOA era.

The delegation is led by Italian ministers of agriculture and transportation and infrastructure.

Iran and Italy signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) worth $18 billion in different sectors as a senior Iranian economic-political delegation visited Italy recently.

They inked 14 agreements in transportation, railroad, educational and medical cooperation, trade, safety, ports, agriculture and medicine.

They also signed agreements in steel, building ships and infrastructures worth 3 million euros.

Representatives of 200 Italian companies are present in the team and are going to discuss energy and agricultural cooperation between Tehran and Rome.

Italian Eni is going to discuss its presence in Iran in post-sanction era.

The company had joined development of phases 4 and 5 of South Pars Gas Field, southern Iran, before imposition of sanctions on the country.

Managers of Italian SACE insurance company, several banks, auto-manufacturers and drug producers are also among members of the delegation.
