Moscow, Jan 21, IRNA Iran and Russian diplomats discussed crisis in Syria in a telephone conversation on Wednesday.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the Russian President Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov exchanged views on possible ways to end the crisis in the Middle Eastern country, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The two officials talked about the upcoming talks between Damascus and opposition planned by the Syria Support Group based on the Resolution 2254 adopted by the UN Security Council.
The so-called Syria Support Group, unlike its name, comprises mostly of countries which form the main opposing front against the Syrian legitimate government, including the United States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar
These countries, from the early days of the crisis in Syria, have opted to meddle in Syria's internal affairs and support terrorists who are fighting to overthrow the government in Syria.
