TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh in a message on Implementation Day of the nuclear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Sunday congratulated the start in lifting of sanctions against Iran.

“In early hours of today, our great nation was freed from oppressive sanctions. I would like to congratulate this great achievement which has been unprecedented in the history of Iran’s foreign policy at least in the current century,” read his message to the oil industry workers and staff.

In the post-sanctions era, he added, it is expected that the oil industry will play the most important role in bringing about mobility in the country’s economy.

“It is now our turn to carry out our duties in the best manner in the post-sanctions era and to materialize the demand of the great nation of Iran and senior officials of the country from the oil industry,” the minister said.

Zangeneh also urged his oil industry colleagues who he said were mainly targeted by the sanctions to uphold the resistive economy principles and double their efforts to develop the industry and increase production, in order to build an economy that will be resilient against outside impulses.

“Today we need to take measures so that … presence of investors and foreign firms either as providers of technical services or suppliers of equipment in various fields of the oil industry shall be conditioned to the development of domestic capacities and their maximal operation,” he stressed.
“Undoubtedly, in the post-sanctions era, implementation costs of projects must have a declining trend proportional to the new conditions,” his message concluded.
