Little difference between various sects of Islam: Envoy

Kula Lumpur, Dec 29, IRNA There is little difference between various sects of Islam, Iranian Ambassador to Malaysia Marzieh Afkham said.


She made the remarks Monday night at a religious celebration on Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) birthday anniversary.

Afkham said that violence and terror has no place in Islamic teachings and Islam is the religion of moderation and peace.

All Muslims across the world should be united and be vigilant towards enemy divisive plots, she added.

Afkham called terrorism and extremism as common threats that endanger the world security.

The Islamic Unity Week ceremonies were held across the world including Malaysia.

The Islamic Unity Week is marked between 12-17th Rabiul Awwal on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

This period in which Muslims ponder on the fundamental call of unity according to the Holy Quran was initiated by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, following the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.
