Iran shuts down pro-ISIS websites: cyber police

Tehran, December 7, The Iran Project- Cyber police says Iran hasshut 132 pro-ISIS websites down, having arrested 53 people associated with ISIS and terrorist groups.

Speaking to the reporters during a press conference, head of Irans Cyber Police (FATA) Brigadier General Seyed Kamal Hadianfar announced on Monday that during the last 20 months, Irans cyber police have hunted down the webpages administered by ISIS members, their supporters and sympathizers.

Referring to tracking downof 285 websites during the time, he said that out of this number, 108 websites have been run from abroad which were blocked by Interpol (the International Criminal Police Organization).

Elsewhere in his remarks, he underlined the detention of 53 people affiliatedwith the terrorist groups whose cases have been submitted to judicial authorities for further investigation.

Large part of these websites were mostly based near borders or the provinces near the countrys borderlines, Hadianfar said, adding that the accounts and webpages initially received notification by Irans cyber police and were finallyblocked.
