Iran urges IAEA to follow UNSC in lifting sanctions

Vienna, Nov 26, IRNA Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for the UN nuclear body to take the path taken by the Security Council in removing the sanctions against Iran.

Speaking at the session of Board of Governors on Thursday, Reza Najafi reiterated Iran's logical stand that IAEA follows the way UNSC acted and lifts all sanction resolutions it has imposed against the Islamic Republic.

Referring to the approaching date for implementation of the nuclear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he also urged all the parties to the agreement to carry out their commitments undertaken under the deal as Iran has done.

'We are ready to respect sincerely our undertakings provided that others will follow suit,' Najafi said.

He elaborated on Iran's activities based on JCPOA and said the final assessment to be issued by IAEA director general by December 15 has to be 'realistic, balanced, and impartial'.

The envoy also thanked the support of the Non-Aligned Movement to the peaceful nuclear program of Iran as well as the support of the majority of IAEA member states to the JCPOA and Roadmap and said, 'Iran expects that with their support the nuclear file will be closed at the upcoming board meeting.'
