IAEA chief report on Iran out on Dec 1: Envoy

Vienna, Nov 26, IRNA Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi said the report by UN body's Director General Yukiya Amano on Iran will be issued on December 1.

In an interview with IRNA on Thursday, he said, 'After the report, a resolution will be drafted by the P5+1 on closing the Possible Military Dimension (PMD) file, which will be discussed and ratified by the special session of the IAEA Board of Governors on December 15.'

To a question on Amano's statement that the PMD will not be 'black and white', he added, 'IAEA is a technical body and can pass technical comments. So far most of the issues have been politically-loaded, therefore, IAEA can only deal with technical dimensions of the issue.'

On the exact implementation date of the nuclear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Najafi said, 'We are trying to finish taking the due measures for its implementation by late December or early January so that it JCPOA will be put in the implementation stage.'

In his speech to the session of Board of Governors, the envoy called for the UN nuclear body to take the path taken by the Security Council in removing the sanctions against Iran.

'We are ready to respect sincerely our undertakings provided that others will follow suit,' Najafi said.

He elaborated on Iran's activities based on JCPOA and said the final assessment to be issued by IAEA director general has to be 'realistic, balanced, and impartial'.
