Tehran Friday prayers leader condemns Paris attacks

Tehran, Nov 20, IRNA - Tehran Interim Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami condemned Paris attacks stressing every clear conscience in the world deplores crimes committed by Daesh (ISIS) criminals.

Referring to the France support for terrorist groups, the cleric said, in his second sermon, that the French government is harvesting what they had cultivated themselves.

Daesh and other Takfiri terrorist groups were created to fight Islam, added the cleric.

Ayatollah Khatami said that ISIS injured fighters are under medical treatment in Israel and the terrorist group has done nothing against the Zionist interests so far.

They are completely silent towards Zionist regime's atrocities against Palestinian Muslims, said the cleric.

Referring to recent terrorist acts in Lebanon, Ayatollah Khatami said that Westerners did not condemn the terrorist attacks in Beirut and this shows their discriminative approach towards terrorism.

Discriminatory approach towards terrorism is the cause and reason behind establishment of terrorist groups including the ISIS, the cleric added.

He further criticized US-led anti-ISIS coalition and urged the international community to show commitment in fighting against terrorism.

President Hassan Rouhani was on the eve of a European tour when the deadly terrorist attacks took place in Paris on November 13 claiming at least 130 lives.

The President who was to visit Italy, Vatican and France decided to postpone the tour for sometime in the future.

'It is better now to focus on fighting terrorism and President Rouhani's trip to Europe will happen in near future,' Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif later said commenting on the postponement of the President's European tour.
