IRGC commander: Europe's security system collapsed

TEHRAN (FNA)- Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami referred to the Paris tragedy, and underlined that the recent attacks on the nurturers of terrorist groups have broken Europe's security system.

"Europe's security system has collapsed and the entire Europe is now in a security shock which shows that their deceptions have backfired," Salami said in the Central province of Qom on Wednesday night.

He said that the European countries which are now witnessing insecurity in their environment are the same states which described the Takfiri terrorists as a freedom-seeking people in the past.

In relevant remarks on Tuesday, Iranian Supreme Leader's Deputy Chief of Office for International Affairs Ayatollah Mohsen Qomi condemned the Friday night's terrorist attacks in Paris, but meantime, said the tragedy was a backfiring of the West's support for terrorist groups.

"The West was punished by the incident in France for its unreasonable supports for these terrorist groups and it is clear that we are not pleased with the killing of innocent people but these conditions are the result of the West-created plights in the Middle-East," Ayatollah Qomi said in Tehran.

He said if any opposition group in different countries is equipped with weapons, then the entire world will become entangled in chaos and terrorism.

Qomi further expressed pleasure in the change of attitude in certain regional states, saying it's good to see that certain countries which thought the Syria problem could only be solved through military means have now come to realize that they were mistaken.

Also, on Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian took the sponsors of terrorism responsible for the Friday night's tragic events in Paris which killed over 150 people, and said they ignored Tehran's warnings about the backfiring of their supports for ISIL.

"Certain regional and trans-regional states helped the ISIL to be born. We had warned that those countries which support the ISIL should know that these insecurities would spread to their countries too," Amir Abdollahian told reporters in Tehran.

"We cannot say explicitly that which country has played a role in the formation of the ISIL but (we can say that) ignoring those warnings ended in such consequences," he added.

Many high-ranking Iranian officials have since long time ago warned advocates of terrorist groups against the adverse results of their supports for terrorism and their instrumental use of terrorist groups.

In June 2014, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani asked the masterminds and the states sponsoring the terrorist operations in Iraq and Syria to stop killing their Muslim brothers, warning that the terrorists would one day attack their supporters.

"We stress and advise all Muslim states and all those who unfortunately help the terrorists with their money and petro dollars to know that it will be their turn tomorrow, and they shouldn't think that you have stimulated these savages merely against others," Rouhani said.

He called on the sponsors of terrorist groups to stop their supports, and said, "Desist from violence; there is no confrontation between the Shiites and the Sunnis and they are brothers and have been living in Iraq, the Levant and Iran and everywhere beside each other."

Rouhani underlined that any discord and conflict between Muslims merely gladdens the Zionists and the criminal powers, adding that the Islamic world needs unity more than any ever.

Also in January 2014, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced Tehran's concerns about the spread of radicalism in the region, and stressed that the phenomenon would bring about unpredictable threats for other parts of world too.

Zarif said that radicalism threatens everybody and no one can claim that it is just a regional problem.

The foreign minister underlined that if there is not enough cooperation, radicalism would spread to other regional countries and world would witness success of radicalism in these states.
