Iran launches campaign to combat cholera
Tehran, November 18, The Iran Project- Deputy of Iran's Health Minister says the ministry launched a campaign to prevent the cholera disease in Iran.

Speaking to a reporter on Wednesday, Dr. Kalantari, the deputy of Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education noted a campaign launched by the ministry to prevent the cholera disease spreading. Pointing to the disease deadly outbreak in the neighboring country, Iraq and the incoming pilgrimage for Shia commemoration of Arbaeen in the holy city of Karbala, he urged all Iranian pilgrims to ensure the necessary measures to avoidcatching the disease.

"Health Ministry has started cholera and diarrhea disease prevention campaign and has designed a website aiming to provide all the necessary data which is available for public", the deputy minister added.

Underlining Iran's special measures to tackle with cholera, he referred to the cooperation among Islamic Revolution Guarded Corps, the Iran Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, Red Crescent and the country's border forces in order to provide the pilgrims with necessary training related to the disease.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said there have been single cases of cholera in Iran but it doesn't imply the disease outbreak in the country.

In concluding part of his remarks, Kalantari demanded the Iranian pilgrims to use safe water and observe the principle of hygiene since it spreads mainly through contaminated water and poor sanitation.
