Philippine condoles Iran on Hajj tragedy

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 9, IRNA The Foreign Minister of the Philippines, Albert del Rosario, sent a message of condolence to Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Friday, in which he condoled Iranian government and nation, especially the bereaved families, on the killing of hundreds of Iranian Hajj pilgrims on September 24.

Rosarios message read, We are deeply sorry over the tragic incident during one of the most important religious rituals of Muslims.
He said Philippine Muslims and government share sympathy with Iran over the incident, praying God Almighty for patience of the survivors and Iranian nation.
The deadly stampede took place on September 24 in Mina, also known as the Tent City, situated 5 kilometers to the east of the Holy city of Mecca.
The death toll from the overcrowding has been revised several times, ranging from 1,000 to 4,700.
With 464 pilgrims, Iran lost more people to the crush than any other country.
