France foreign policy not against Iran: Former official
Tehran, Sept 19, IRNA - Former French interior minister Jean-Pierre Chevnement said on Saturday that France's foreign policy is not against Iran.

He made the remarks after a meeting with Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali-Akbar Velayati.
Chevnement praised Iran and P5+1 negotiating teams for reaching the deal, adding that the JCPOA can help resolve problems in the region.
He said that he discussed with Velayati the crises in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon as well as the African countries of Mali and Libya.
France does not follow US foreign policy and its policies are not against Iran, the official added.
He underlined that Tehran and Paris should look for joint points in their foreign policy to boost regional security and guarantee their national interests.
Chevnement referred to increase in exchange of delegations between Iran and France, adding that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will pay a visit to France in November and an economic delegation led by the French agriculture minister will visit Tehran on Sunday.
Velayati, for his part, called for expansion of ties between Iran and France.
Nuclear deal opened a new chapter in Iran's relations with the Western states including France, he added.
The official noted that grounds are prepared for expansion of ties between Iran and France.
Referring to hospitality of the French nation during exile of founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini in the country, he praised France's independent foreign policy.
Velayati urged coordination between Iran and France to boost regional peace and decrease tensions in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Both Iran and France believe that crises in Yemen, Syria and Iraq have no political solution and both Paris and Tehran have respect for these countries' sovereignty, he noted.
